Michaela Strachan Profile

Michaela Strachan, born on the 7th April 1966, is a factual television presenter and ex-children's television presenter, most recently fronting Springwatch and Great British Ghosts.

  • Before breaking into children's television, Michaela studied at ArtsEd London.

  • Michaela was a popular face on Saturday morning television in the 1980s, presenting TV-am and Wide Awake Club with Timmy Mallett.

  • In 1993 Michaela joined what would become her most famous programme, The Really Wild Show. Alongside Chris Packham, who she would work with again in the future, this opened up the door to a series of natural and wildlife programmes.

  • After The Really Wild Show Michaela was a regular reporter on Countryfile until 2009.

  • Michaela has since presented a swathe of programmes including Michaela's Zoo Babies, Michaela's Animal Road Trip, Animal Rescue Squad, Animal Rescue International and Michaela's Wild Challenge. Michaela co-presented two series of Orangutan diary in 2006 and 2008 of Orang-utan Diary alongside Steve Leonard following the daily routines orphaned orang-utans at a Bornean reserve.

  • Since 2011, Michaela replaced Kate Humble to co-present Autumnwatch and Springwatch with Chris Packham and Martin Hughes-Games.

  • In 2011, Michaela presented the first of two series called Great British Ghosts on Yesterday with the second series following in the summer of 2012. Great British Ghosts sees Michaela travel around Britain visiting haunted buildings to find out about their ghostly stories.
