Victorian Farm

Victorian Farm sees historian Ruth Goodman and a team of archaeologists sample the life of a Victorian farmer for a whole year, wearing the same clothes and using materials that would have been only available in 1885.

Using Acton Scott estate in Shropshire as a base, they get to work restoring the cottage, but the onset of winter means they have their work cut out – they have to work hard stocking up on animal feed, building pigsties and tackling the exhausted process of cleaning laundry.

Throughout the series, the team’s olde world ways see them try traditional potions and remedies, pest control, and employ a little bit of Victorian science to solve some livestock problems.
