In the 1930’s civil engineer Guy Maunsell came up with an ingenious way to float a 4,500 tonne WW2 fort to its intended location 3-6 miles off the east coast of England.

This ingenious design inspired the building one of the most impossible bridges of all time: the Rion Antirion.
