
Dan comes from broadcasting royalty. His father is the BBC television journalist Peter Snow and Channel 4 news reporter Jon Snow is his father's cousin.
His first break into television presenting came with the programme El Alamein, in 2003, which he co-presented with his Dad for the battle's 60th anniversary. Just a year later, he and his Dad won a BAFTA for their next project Battlefield Britain.

This earned Dan his own presenting slot from 2006 to 2008 in 20th Century Battlefields and then in 2010 he began presenting more and more historical programmes, such as the series Little Ships and another called Norman Walks.
Dan continued his diversification from war-based documentaries and his 2011 series, Filthy Cities, cemented his position as a top historical television presenter.
